Partner did not have to bid. He ought to have a good spade stopper. I have a nice maximum of 1NT - support for his first suit, decent points in diamonds and nice "empty" hearts that should fill the role of lead-detergent :-).

I will not run into 2 unless doubled.

If we play support dbls and always open 1 with 4/4 minors, partner is likely to have a 5-card clubs. And with a singleton spades in the dummy, even a 4-3-fit is playable. So 2 has merrits.

I chose pass because I've soft values and because 2 gives them an extra chance of bidding 2, which is probably worse than us playing 1NT.

Given LHO's original pass and RHO's pass, opps rate to keep silent from now on. Since I have bad hearts 1NT may very well be the last thing that makes, so I'm going to pass.

Pass. I'm not sure if we play supp XX but partner didn't make one if we do. He also didn't pass which is an option with a weak NT and a weak stopper. So most likely he has a double stopper. RHO has indicated some heart length, and my suit is just too bad.

Pass, happily.

Are we really going to make 2 more tricks in clubs than NT? Especially when RHO puts a trump on the table?

Even if I had better hearts I wouldn't correct in this auction. Without interference I would almost always bid 2H over 1NT with this shape (but then partner usually doesn't have 4 spades, so that's different).
Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.

I care about the friends I have made on BBO. Also, I am extremely concerned about the environment/ ecology/ wildlife/ the little planet that we call Earth. How much more of the world's habitat and food supply for animals do we plan on destroying. How many more wetlands are we going to drain, fill, and build on? How many more sand dunes are we going to knock down in the interests of high-rise hotels or luxury homes?

Agree

The dog that didn't bark: Partner didn't make a support double (BBO-advanced)
No one forced partner to bid. P bid 1NT for a reason: decent spades, legit. opener. If anything, my KQx of clubs should be golden.
