I just was privileged to fill in for a BBO team game, 2 sessions, 8 bds each.
First tg I have played in online or off in many years.
The other players were much much better players than me, but I have known some of them for years.

Missed some overtricks when I found I had stopped counting out or thinking about declarers shape, Near the end. Know this is something I really need to concentrate more on.

I overbid on a couple of hands, one was a giant 2 suiter, 2 loser hand after RHO had opened 1H. In the auction I did get to cue showing extras but felt I was not fully showing my hand so drove to six, got doubled, down...lesson learned..Other table doubled a sacrifice in 5, our table opponents bid much less...

Hand two pard showed the majors over a strong nt. with 5s spades and roughly 8hcp I bid 3s, pard continued to 4, other table stopped in 2s..another overbid by me.

Lessons not learned..

at least 2 or 3 hands the opponents bid 3 over 2 in competitive auction, I passed, the other table bid 3 over 3 and it was winning decisions for other table.
I did not have any shortness and at most it was an 8 card fit for us...Not really sure why I should be bidding 3 over 3 on those...

The finer points of Bridge, these competitive decisions are tough for me.

Depending on defence (theirs is better than your teammates') or play (yours is worse than their teammates'), those 3 over 3s could be going down at your table. And doubled or vulnerable, that's the same -100 into -140 that you're giving up -110 into -140. One of the reasons better teams are better is that they can judge when to take the push more; but one of the reasons better teams are better is that they can bring home those pushed hands more often, too.

Or maybe you just got unlucky, and one card in your hand instead of partners' and they would have been the ones going from a plus setting your 3-level contract to a minus playing theirs. That happens, too, and can happen multiple times in a session (sometimes, multiple times in a 7-board match. Ask me how I know this).

Or maybe a combination of all of these things.

If I could get those decisions right, I'd be an expert rather than a director...
