Another preempt hand

A fun hand from a few weeks ago. At unfavourable vulnerability, first seat, you pick up a weak 6-5 hand. With so few intermediates I decided to go for the low road and open 2. In general I'm not a big fan of opening 4M on a 6-5, the risk of losing trump control is somewhat significant.
To my surprise my partner corrects to 3, natural and not forcing, and RHO doubles. The rest of the auction and the South hand can be found in the spoiler.

Seems like there will be 20+ total tricks so an easy 5D bid (and w/o reading the spoiler, I thought hoping to be Xed😁😁😁)

I think if you are going to compete to 6 you should have bid it on the previous round. My thinking is no, hope that either 5 goes off or they have missed slam.
