Last month I reported a pair of players to the abuse email documenting multiple dubious auctions in a tournament. I received confirmation that it was under review.
I was aware that it was not policy to provide follow-up on whatever decision was taken, but tonight I played a tournament and was disappointed that one of the players was there again with the same nickname and doing what looked like the same things.
What am I supposed to do, report again and hope I find a different reviewer?

I reported players who insult partner or opponent, it was not policy to provide follow-up abuse.

I am not BBO, but I think "report again, referencing the previous report, showing a pattern of behaviour" is correct. It might actually be better if it hit the same reviewer than a new one, in fact.
It is important to make the link for the abuse@ team, as they may not notice it and consider it a one-off.
It could be there was a timeout given, but it's been served and <offender> is back playing - having not learned their lesson. That does tend to generate a - reaction - from the people who hoped it would.

Also tell the Director & click the Abuse box on the profile & copy in the abuse & tourney #.

Thanks to both.
I had already advised (and discussed with) the Director so was disappointed to see the player still there, whatever action BBO may have taken.
Yes I will of course report again.

I went and checked your report again FWIW, but like mycroft noted above, coming back with more examples or to specify in which game this occurs usually helps.
About the TD, this appears to be a free game hosted by a volunteer. Nothing stops private games from selecting their clientelle, without having to explain why. "This is a private game" is sufficient.

Thanks for your attention.
I now put in a second report, both specify clearly which tournament and which boards and what looks odd.
About the TD, sure, it is his tournament and he can select who he likes, even if it disappoints me.
