I'm puzzled by why you're puzzled :) What line would you take instead? Crossing in spades and trying to finesse a trump seems to be a very low chance (playing South not only for KQx of trumps but also the last remaining club so the king cashes after you cross back via the heart ruff), while laying down the ace handles every 2-2 break and also some stiff honors.. but maybe I'm missing something.
