I had a similar hand against two grand life masters, but at favourable. I bid 1N on my xx in spades, with long hearts and a blah hand. The opps got to 4S and went down when partner, with Qxx in spades, scored a trump trick. This hand is a little different, especially in that the opps may not have a spade fit. Nevertheless, if feeling frisky, I think that 1N is the best course moving forward.
LHO may be unable (systemically) to double as takeout….what would your agreement be for (1H) 1S (1N) x? I do think it should be showing the minors but many partnerships have no agreement here. And, even if they can double, with east being on the same page, we’ve (hopefully) blown some smoke.

Is 1NT a psych or are you playing transfers over interference?
When I progress to playing txfr/interference we play 1nt here as transfer to clubs, 10+
(1H) 1S (1N) X minors makes sense, 2N minors could easily be too high. How about a 2 card support double, has anyone tried that?

Straight psyche
Btw, I play transfers in a LOT of sequences but I can’t figure out how one could usefully play transfers after an opp overcalls 1S. 1N is too valuable, as a natural bid showing 8-10 and one or more stoppers for me ever to give it up….and one can’t substitute double for the natural 1N without losing the negative double. It’s different when they overcall 1H, since you can play the double as 4+ spades (most who do this limit it to 4-5 spades, and bid 2H as any hand with 6+ spades)

1H (1S) X is transfer to 1nt, showing a S stopper
Why do we need a X to show spades when the ops are bidding the suit?

You don’t. But what do you bid with, say, xx xx AJxxx Kxxx?
Most are making a negative double
