4C and 4H are alerted (cue bid ?). and what is 5C after 4nt. 4D is a cue bid or choice of suit

4/ look like cue bids, I'm not sure if the 3NT bid implies/shows diamond support or is a simple 12-15HCP bal. 5 looks like three key cards (two aces and K). 4 looks like it is showing the diamond support so maybe 3NT is 12-15 balanced.

I can't see any sense in 4 as a control-bid unless 3NT promised diamonds support, though.
Over a natural 3NT it would make sense as a generic artificial force inviting partner to DSI, as he did.

WBridge5 plays 3NT as 13-15 with diamond support (but no singleton / 4 card major). Which seems crazy to me with such weakness in the majors, but makes the rest of the auction understandable.

Makes sense thanks, not sure it is so crazy?
Essentially pass with hope in the majors or correct to diamonds, although the minimum is not much guarantee of game which means that 4 now probably should be NF natural and anything else a control bid fixing trumps.

Maybe, North could still easily have stoppers in the majors so you may look very silly if correcting 3N to 4 when 3N is cold..

I suspect it's more a result of it not playing inverted minors so doesn't have a better option.
