From day 2 of this weekend's free event. I'm baffled as to the logic of what the East robot is doing here - I can only assume it has some "logic" where it goes "if not 11 hcp then don't open at 1 level" and "if suit quality is too strong then don't preempt" and hence it does neither and misses a good game as a result? Any ideas? Have sent an automated report but I've no idea if these are ever looked at

Yes, your assumption is precisely what it does. It will preempt 4♠ with a solid 13 card spade suit though Unfortunately, you just have to live with it
