MPs, game all.
After two passes RHO opens 1♦. Do you overcall here?

Yes. But only for a lead. I just hope - less chance on probability - that partner has not got 5♥ support and raises to 4♥ on LOTT. If the opps arrive in 3NT I want my partner (if he is on lead) to find the best lead.

Yes, I would. QT9xx isn't that bad (although I wouldn't overcall with anything worth than that), and it's on the 1 level anyway.
The opponents is very likely to be more powerful than us, so they are gonna play their contract most of the time, and I would appreciate a heart lead against 2/3NT.

Well done for bidding. I toook the view that the hand was flat and weak, the suit mediocre and a 1♥ overcall if anything gives them more bidding space so I passed. That was a one way trip to a joint bottom.
Making nine tricks, although we can hold it to eight tricks, if partner leads a club he eventually gets a ruff, which tied with one other pair who defended 3♣=. If you find a heart overcall you will probably be playing in hearts making eight tricks. Two tables passed it out and one NS pair of heroes were in 3NT-4. That was it, no EW pair played in a heart contract.
Unfortunately this was part of a disasterous round and getting 18% and two zeros against one of the weakest pairs in the room contributed to our lousy 43.6% overall.

They stop dealing you 5-card majors if you refuse to overcall with them. Your partner should realise that as well.

I might or might not overcall 1H, but a failure to overcall 1S as a passed hand is inexcusable. (It would be different as an unpassed hand when partner might get you too high.)

I think I would bid just to stop them getting too cheap a contract.
Possibly even a takeout
Its like we all know the situation but at least we can find a low level fit - what was vulnerability - hopefully partner knows the situation too
Just looked at the hand. Possible 1 spade contract
