I have noticed that recently there are no free robot tournaments at certain times of the day.
Is it because, since the price hike for the paid robot tournaments, people voted with their feet?
BBO is of course free to do this, but it really smacks of desperation.
It would also have been nice to be informed of such a policy.

52 Entertainment paid a lot of money for BBO.
You can't expect them to let people compete with lower priced offerings...

Recently there has been a surge of use in the middle of the day, causing heavy load. We had a choice of going back to the server split we were using until the middle of 2021, or disabling some free games at peak hours. We chose the latter.

The server split was a nuisance, but lack of free games is much worse IMO.

There are free games all the time. There is an interval of about 2-3 hours where we suspended some of the BBO-managed free games. However, free games ran by volunteers and clubs are still available, as well as the rest of the free areas of bbo: casual games, solitaire, team matches.
We're working on increasing capacity, and we'll resume the schedule of free tournaments managed by BBO as soon as possible.

Part of the problem is that there is a knock-on effect on the better free games run by volunteers and clubs, which now fill up unusually quickly as alternatives diminish. But I understand, thanks as always for your efforts.
