Scoring: IMP

biddind was:

1-2-2-2-3-4-4-5-6

i was south and must admit that i lost comprehension off the auction after the 2sp bid.

we play 2cl only one round force, which i dislike a bit(pard want it that way).

what are the pros and cons of 2cl one round force opposite gf?

do u have some reference on web or other about a detailed method concerning

1ka-2cl gf or not?

and any suggestion about sensible auction?

I don't like 2C 1 round force but its ok. If you have 10 points and 6 clubs you dont want to bid 1N over 1D (i like bidding 1D-3C as natural invite). You should just have bid 2N over 2S.

You might want to check out this thread with an almost identical name here on this forum 1D - 2C

I prefer the treatment where, openers rebids are
  • 2 - 5+ Diamond, any
  • 2 4-4-4-1 distribution specifically (and not suitable for my specialized three suiter showing opening bid, so genrally limited to 15 to 16 hcp max
  • 2 = strong club raise

  • 2NT = balanced min

  • 3 = weaker than 2 club raise

  • 3 = Solid diamond suit

  • 3M = splinter for ’s

  • 3NT = balanced 17-19 hcp

Sensible auction starts, 1D-2C-2D and you have found your fit, now the question is can you get to slam.

I care about the friends I have made on BBO. Also, I am extremely concerned about the environment/ ecology/ wildlife/ the little planet that we call Earth. How much more of the world's habitat and food supply for animals do we plan on destroying. How many more wetlands are we going to drain, fill, and build on? How many more sand dunes are we going to knock down in the interests of high-rise hotels or luxury homes?

6D is a nice contract

disagree with 3 spade bid
would opt for 2NT instead.
3S, IMO, sorta denies spade stopper assuming 2S was fsf.

Even playing 2/1 G.F., 1D-2C is not a game force because I don't have the advantage/(sometimes disadvantage) of 1NT forcing.

My preferred method is archaic. 2C over 1D promises 1 more bid unless partner rebids 2N. It is forcing to 2N or 3 of either minor.

SAYC anyone?

3 is the best bid of the auction, 2 is a poor choice, reversing with 14 when having singleton in is not a good idea. Bidding 2 with support is a bad thing to do.

:unsure:
Mike Lawrence has a very detailed description of the 2/1 system first published in 1987, but still in print. "Mike Lawrence's Workbook On the Two Over One System" Devyn Press, Louisville, Ky. 40241. In his view the 1 - pass - 2 auction is the weakest part of the 2/1 system because the forcing 1NT is not available (see pg. 72).

It seems to me that your partner's preference not to play a 2/1 game force in this auction has considerable merit. Thirty years ago, when I played serious bridge, this auction, playing K-S (not game force), was a joy. Using 2/1 it is a pain. Why use it?

Playing 2 as invite or better leaves 3 free for those hands too weak for 2 inverted and too strong for 3 preemptive.

Anyway, bid natural over 2 except:
2 = Multi Reverse:

GF with (direct raise NF)
Natural reverse
4441 short any strength.

After 2 relay opener clarifies:
2NT = NF with 4441
3 = 3+ GF
3NT = stronger 4441
Other = Natural reverse, less than 3 further description.
Two wrongs don't make a right, but three lefts do!

I play 2/1 (majors only) and I always use this method with any partner.

What do you play as inverted minors? Pretend the 2C bid is an inverted minor raise and use your already existing bidding structure to complete the description of your hand. This saves wear and tear on the brainstem and invariably works out quite well. (Such as showing stoppers, checkback bids etc.)

If you dont play inverted minors, then your usual structure will also work if you reverse the meanings of 2C and 3C as in 2C is stronger than 3C (to play, like you make a WJS).
