LIKE FAILED cannot like a post

I just logged on and read a post which seemed sensible to I hit the PLUS sign to show my approval. I received the following message - "action failed - you have reached your maximum number of likes for the day" So I assume my maximum is zero. Then why put the + sign there?

I think you need to have made a minimum number of posts before being able to like posts. Posts from some posters, typically BBO employees, cannot be liked but the plus button does not appear on these.

It defeats the whole point of the like button if nobody can like comments.

It is primarily an anti-spamming setting. I suspect you need to have made 50 posts to get the "like" feature enabled.
