How to send me your answers:

Click on the box below my post that says "pm"

Tell me what your answers are, indexed by the problem index.

Do NOT add any commentary, explanations, etc.
It is your responsibility to make sure all bids are sufficient, fit in the system, and that you have answered every question.

Example of a correct format (but not correct bids, I hope):

BPO-003 A: 8C
BPO-003 B: 9♦

You can find the "PM" button immediately underneath the smiley face below

As you know in each BPO contest we invite the solver with the highest score to participate on the next panel. We will continue to do this. However, in BPO-003 the top scoring panelist was the solver who won the contest last week (Arend or aka cherdano). That is two remarkable weeks of performance, well done Arend. So the rules have been modified to say that if the guest panelist scores the highest (or ties the highest) score, he will be invited back for the next panel as well.

So the next BPO poll, we will have (at least) two guest panelist. 1) who even won the BPO-03 contest, and the triumphent return of Arend, based upon his most excellent preformace this week.

Each contest, i email the quizes to more potential panelist than reply. I happy to announce the Russian Expert Sergey Kustarov (dinos1) has submitted answers to the BPO-003 quiz. Sadly, they were too late to include in the scoring of this weeks contest, but hopefully this means Sergey will participate in the future... Welcome Sergey.

His replies are included below so we call benefit from his expert insights.

Answers to BPO-003:

A. 4D: and bid 4S over 4H. Partner will bid 5S with 2 top honors.

B. Dbl: for not to lose heart suit. Then bid 2S over 2D/H

C. Pass: misfits, and not enough pts. Even the perfect hand as
dAQJTxx plus A and K doesnt make 3N cold, while partner will raise
my 2N to 3N with much worse hand. 2N shd promise at least semi-fit

D. 2D: forcing. Then 3S over 2N, 3N over 3C, 4S over 2S

E. Pass: no choice. If partner won't find a bid we have no game.
Over 3C we'll bid 3N, and Pass his t/o Dbl

F. 3S: soft preempt might work better while after 4S opp's will
rather Dbl us for 800 having no slam (say dQx mb enough).

I'm extremely tired (after having driven back from a tournament six hours (seven hours b/c of traffic) from my house, but instead of keeping you in even LONGER suspense, I shall announce the winner: Poky. Congratulations!

Second place, etc. will have to wait until I get some sleep and recover from driving. (And to be even MORE off subject, some people need their license revoked. BADLY. If you've ever driven on the 5 between SF and LA, you know what I'm talking about.)

Congrats Poky <_<

its a shame Sergei didn't make it in time, he would make all the scorings even closer, althou the 6-4 splits would keep the winner coming to 6-5, the 3-split would had a tieattop place with 4-4-3, and sincec Double was the middle asnwer of the 3 I guess it would become the winner :).

Ok, as I said before, Poky won with a first place score of 540. The second highest score was 530, acheived by Double ! and Helene t (a second secondplace finish in a row, if I recall correctly). Close behind was mr1303, with a score of 520. Very close match!

The median was 410, and those above were: Mike777, Blofeld, joker gib, Hannie, shanbari, flytox, HeartA, pclayton, and hrothgar.

We had 30 participants (if you're wondering why contestant's answers added up to 31, I counted my own answers there, but not in the official tally of determining winners)
