We had 5 tables and I wanted to play a Three quarter Howell with 24 boards.
I specified an 8 round Howell with 3 boards per table.
However we played a strange movement with each pair playing 4 of the other pairs twice.

What did I do wrong please?

Did you add the command +rounds8+ otherwise it would run as a normal movement with E/W 1 playing N/S 1-5 then 1,2 and 3 again (8 rounds)

Was the vebu club host online at the start or were you added as an additional Director. If so the Howell won't run and will run as an ordinary Mitchell movement of 8 rounds.

What kenjay said. When using howell, keep the vEBUxxx hostname online at start. After the game has started you can log it off, but the BBO system needs host online to "read" whether it has howell access or not. Not all usernames are allowed to run howell movements.

The vEBU host was online at the start and remained online throughout.

Thank you all for your help. It will remain a mystery.

How does one know whether one has the right to run howell movements?

Did the host have the description strings in his or her setup? Is that even required?
