The bidding goes:

CHO . RHO . you . LHO
1S ... 2D ... X ... 4D
4H ... 5D ... 5H ...6D
pass .pass...???

It's matchpoints, unfavorable.

Double.
I told my story when I raised pard's hearts to 5, no need to bid again my shape.

Double

Six hearts might be made if partner has K, AK and AK, but then 6 doubled will be more points then our game. I don't think many people will bid the slam, I would have doubled 5 in the previous round.

I guess I am out on a limb here bymyself. My partners pass was forcing. I happen to like my singleton diamond. I have an extra heart partner didn't know about, the spade ACE he couldn't count on. Sure, his 4 bid COULD have been under some pressure, but his pass of 6 is clearly a slam try. My hand in support of hearts is actually an opening hand (ZAR fans, 8 hcp, 2 control points, 14 distributional points, and fit points 2 pts for heart honors and 2 points for fifth heart plus singleton diamond, that is a whooping 28)... partner can not expect that much and yet he is inviting six. So I bid six hearts.

We already showed a good distributional hand in support of hearts, we bid 5H ourselves.

one vote for Double

P has majors, I have a very nice lead to make, unless P has KQ6th, AK4th or 5th, x,A(x), I question whether or not P can avoid a club loser. Yes, partner's pass (to me) is forcing, and Ax is a very strong holding in P's suit. If S-Ace is all that P needs for 6, might not a bid other than 4H over 4D have been made?

Double is automatic at IMPs, at MPs I think I'm bidding 6 since the 6d they bid is probably going to be a very cheap save if we could make 5 and who knows maybe 6 is cold and it's me the one who is saving.
I don't think X is going to work at MPs, maybe it can be 30% instead of a 0 but is not worth trying.

By not doubling partner is offering me a slam. The opps think 6D will be profitable for them. Do I have anything more to show? If I had a diam void, it would be clear to bid 6H. On the bidding opps must have 10+ diam, so partner can't have more than 2d maybe less. So partner knows I have 1 or none or has a singleton diam. So my diam singleton is known or duplicated.

I bid 5H already which shows my 5th heart. Is the AS enough to bid 6H? That is about all I have that partner does not know about.

Suppose opps have 10d and we have 10h. That's 20 tricks for the Law. If we can take 12, they can only take 8 which is more than our game.

No matter how you look at it... it is close decision. But if partner only needs the AS for slam, partner would probably have bid 6H already. Partner needs more... Maybe a club control or a diam void or a top heart honor. I have none of those things.

Why is his pass a slam try, afterall he only bid 4 on the previous round? He didn't have a slam try then. If opponents didn't save, I wouldn't have bid 5 and we wouldn't have been thinking about slam.

Pass is certainly forcing, but I think partner has not a clear double (diamond strength, short on controls) and let me take the decision. If I had a strong hand (which is still possible from the viewpoint of partner), I could bid 6, but not with this hand.

It is a slam try because he is inviting your participation. Double or bid.

You can not have a strong hand, as noted by others, your 5 bid showed a fifth heart. With any "strong hand" and five hearts you would have bid 2 not made a negative double of 2.

I may have only 4 hearts with a hand that rather plays 5 than double 5, say 2=4=2=5. Such a hand can be stronger and slam might be making. A double by partner should warn me not to bid 6, while a pass is neutral. Just my thoughts.

As most of you suggested, South doubled 6. Final score: 6x+1. :)
