BPO-002C

2NT

It would be very helpful to have some clue what the opponent's bidding actually means... Does X show a single suited hand followed by a “paradox” response? Does double show values followed by a long suit? Does X initiate a scramble? How the hell are we supposed to have a clue what to do? To quote Al Roth “In all my years of playing bridge, I've never seen this type of bullshit sequence”

Needless to say, I don't have any sensible agreements with partner so I'll bid 2NT and pray.

2NT too and pray - it should be obvious I have few hearts and I didn't transfer to spades so I must have minors if partner prefers the minors...

Pass

Tough one.
What the heck is 2nt playing with world class pick up partner on this auction?
Hey, perhaps the bidding is not over yet?
Heck maybe the opp. have made the last guess and guessed wrong?
Looks like I am out on a Limb on this one with pass.

I care about the friends I have made on BBO. Also, I am extremely concerned about the environment/ ecology/ wildlife/ the little planet that we call Earth. How much more of the world's habitat and food supply for animals do we plan on destroying. How many more wetlands are we going to drain, fill, and build on? How many more sand dunes are we going to knock down in the interests of high-rise hotels or luxury homes?

PASS

It's not clear that the opps have a fit or that we have one. Why risk going for numbers? Chances are, the more we can make, the more the opps can make.

Silly question:

What would double followed by 2NT over 2 show?
Might be more flexible than the immediate 2NT...

Silly answer, you may never get a chance to bid 2, so don't make it too specific. Since 2NT is scramble for the minors, this 2NT can hardly be scramble too. So i would guess it might be a whoops, i meant 2X as penatly, which i think it probably should not be.

1. I am assuming that 2 SHOULD be takeout...

2. Given that 2 is takeout, the 2NT correction can't be natural

3. I don't see much sense in designing bidding sequences arround the assumption that partner or I misbid...

X=CARD SHOWING
2NT=MINORS

I passed but concede:
1) this could be a double part score swing
2) 2nt allows 2 suits for p to get out in
3) 2nt allows Partner to convert it to play with a pass with certain hand types.
4) disagree that x is takeout so I voted this as third best choice.

I see many, many 2nt votes but very little discussion on why they they thought that was best. I post some reasons here but I can only assume they thought this was an easy and such an obvious bid choice that further discussion was worthless.
