Clearly falls into the "or what?" category.

Could that "or what" be prior knowledge of the hand?

If he was good - and old fashioned enough to communicate only through calls - then he would probably be in 6, knowing that a keycard is missing.

My partner has KQ, xx, KQ109xx, KJx if I do this and I go down 4 or worse KQx, x, KQ109xx, KJx where I go down 3 with 6 on ice.

. only second board of team. and they were prob not going to lose anynow as they had pretty weak opposition. nothing was commented by other players or specs (except for me) i just thought it was
obvious someone had a second computer at work.

Looks to me sufficiently unusual to report, if you have the data:
support@bridgebase.com should work

You can assume nothing. I played with a "star" player who insisted on support doubles and then made one for my spade bid with Qx in my suit and AKT9xx

And some star players won theirs 40 years ago.

You can report it and bbo will know what the story is.

Kit Woolsey is fond of saying that leaping to slam is always wrong.
I am pretty sure Kit is a better player than North.

I do not go as far as Kit does and I might leap to slam for a number of reasons. But there are not too many.

1) I have a surprise in my hand and the slam might well depend on the right opening lead which is not obvious from the bidding so far. Bridge is not played double dummy.
2) I am playing with a much weaker player and I fear a bidding misunderstanding (like getting passed prematurely).
3) I can not think of a sensible way exchanging further useful information or consulting partner.
4) I want to force the opponents to an immediate decision whether to bid on or not.

it's obviously an awful bid but could we not jump to cheating/abuse so quickly

The OP says North is a starred player. As I understand it, this is an elite status conferred directly by BBO to people who have earned it through participation in various World Championship events and/or success in major national and international tournaments.
It would obviously be inappropriate to assume that there is cheating/abuse here, but some surprise is legitimate.
