Hi all,

from BRIDGE WORLD STANDARD 2017 Charpter two : General Understandings and Defaults

Bypass rule: If a player bypasses a natural notrump bid to make a nonforcing bid, then later bids notrump uninvited over an opposing bid, that notrump bid is unusual (showing additional distribution, not offering to play in notrump).
Conversions: When either a double or a notrump bid, when followed by a conversion, would show length in the same two suits: starting with a double suggests more in high cards, starting with a notrump bid suggests more in shape.

I dont understand those words meaning , please help me thx. give me some example better.

The first one refers to auctions like
(1)-pass-(1)-2
(pass)-pass-(2)-2NT*

Here, the initial 2 bid is nonforcing and bypasses the natural 1NT bid. Hence, 2NT is not natural but shows four hearts and long diamonds.

The second one:

(4)-dbl_or_4NT-(pass)-5
(pass)-5

Here, starting with 4NT would show a more distributional hand, starting with double would suggest more points (maybe the latter inference isn't really applically in this auction, anyway that's the general idea of the conversion rule).
The world would be such a happy place, if only everyone played Acol :) --- TramTicket
