I wish there was a way to directly post this hand instead of reproducing it;

1) Who leads a doubleton into a long suit game try and acceptance?
2) Who would not lead a high club? Why couldn't two clubs cash off the top?
3) Who pitches at trick two a spade from Q10xx instead of a club from J109xxx?
4) Why do the bots usually double dummy me and then play like this?

You can post hands directly by going into your hand history, my hands/results, hitting export deal and getting a handviewer link and opening it in new window to get full URL. Or hit the movie link from bridgebase.com/myhands.

Use
[hv="url here without quotes"]400|300[/hv]

As for the bots, defensively they are a bit hopeless. I think the biggest problem here is they probably don't really understand the auction, the 3d bid is defined as limited to 16-17 total points, but then this is contraindicated by the leap to 6H, which it thinks is still 17-. So then maybe it has a hard time postulating possible range of hands for South then starts doing nutty things thinking things are equal/don't matter.

So they should probably fix this so that 3D and 6H are unlimited, then perhaps it does better.
Still it will have the limitations of no understanding of signalling, and not thinking of declarer's single dummy issues assuming declarer always plays double dummy (thus sometimes relieving declarer of guesses). But they could try to do better in generating the sample of hands it should be defending against, with improved bidding definitions, and also playing humans to deviate to some extent from the definitions.

The weird thing is, if you get a 3 response to the game try then bid 4 anyway, it "corrects" the description to 21+ points. I assumed this was like GOSH takeout doubles, where it starts with the standard definition then corrects it. But apparently not.

Let me give these a try:

1) Who leads a doubleton into a long suit game try and acceptance?

GIB?

2) Who would not lead a high club? Why couldn't two clubs cash off the top?

GIB?
3) Who pitches at trick two a spade from Q10xx instead of a club from J109xxx?

GIB?

4) Why do the bots usually double dummy me and then play like this?

GIB is an equal opportunity fixer although it has a few favorites.

Not so "Killing Defence at Bridge" but more so "Killing the Defence at Bridge".

As you say, absolutely hopeless. LOL

love the comments johnu and felicityR.

here's my take (unfortunately slightly in favor of GUBBO - very rare)
1) Who leads a doubleton into a long suit game try and acceptance?

with Jxxxx in H need a ruff. choice between D and S. D has more body. Plus GUBBO would decode Tx when dJ hook works. Plus GUBBO itself makes a game try with Qx for example. Note spade lead is bad bad.

2) Who would not lead a high club? Why couldn't two clubs cash off the top?
Hand screams club void - no blackwood hence not singleton but void. so why lead it?

3) Who pitches at trick two a spade from Q10xx instead of a club from J109xxx?
This is GUBizzare and sympathies. Wonder if it makes w/o spade pitch

4) Why do the bots usually double dummy me and then play like this?
We are all in the "same boat". Though GUBBO is a master player when bad breaks - as in this case.

Other than competitive bidding and the insane leaps to 6 or 7 and some defensive lapses, GUBBO has become better.

yet, my sympathies.

Stephen, I don't see that option for Bridge 4 or Just Play Bridge. Is this intended just for robot tournaments?

It looks like for just play bridge, they don't record to your hand history, which apparently does just tournaments and main bridge club hands. You can only get the handviewer link from your results tab using web interface (not on tablet version) immediately after you play the hand, lost after you log out? But immediately after you play it, if you click on the list of results from current session to review the hand, there should be an export deal->handviewer link option.
