Just play bridge robots. Human South.

After the smoke cleared, GIB managed to go for 1100.

I still think Gib is counting full value for shortages, even in partners/opponent sitting across the table suit like here.

Sarcasm is a state of mind

GIB may also be counting distribution points for other tables in the tournament :D

West's 3 bid is crazy, the rest is rather good at first sight.

Yeah, I don't know why you'd call this the worst auction of all time. Especially considering you just commented on my thread where GIB ended in 7 missing all 4 aces and half the HCP.

Everything looks perfectly normal except for 3. For some reason that's described as forcing, which can't make sense.

But don't forget you're choosing to play with the version of GIB which bids solely on points and has the part which tries to figure out how well the hands fit together disabled. Based on points, each hand is getting overvalued, and it's not surprising GIB gets too high. Though give East the ace of clubs and a better spade split and you're probably making 5, so West is probably worth inviting something.

But obviously, 3 is silly.

The auction in your post was really awful too and I'm sure neither of them is the worst ever. But this auction has THREE awful bids, 2, 3 and 4.

Your auction seems like a glitch of some sort in a database - a bad one for sure - but this auction is a perfect storm of fundamental GIB flaws. Somehow it reaches 4 on an easily discernible 4-3 misfit, 20 HCP in quacks and absolutely no interference from the opponents.

This is a bad auction but not even remotely close to the worst. Pretty unlucky to get doubled and go for 1100.
Please let me know about any questions or interest or bug reports about GIB.

2 has to be a forward going bid and not an attempt to improve the part score contract. Otherwise, opener is going to have to make some sort of distortion to show a strong hand. Give opener AQxx - AQxx AQxxx and you want to bid 1, 1, 2. Once responder has indicated little game interest with 1N, East needs to just give up.
