Swiss matches

Kxx 87x J8xx Txx

2H 6H

Opponents are young. 2nd or 3rd board out of the box. On the first they gave you +690 after a questionable decision, so they might be trying to get one back.

I agree. Passive leads rarely beat spontaneously bid slams.

"It's only when a mosquito lands on your testicles that you realize there is always a way to solve problems without using violence!"

"Well to be perfectly honest, in my humble opinion, of course without offending anyone who thinks differently from my point of view, but also by looking into this matter in a different perspective and without being condemning of one's view's and by trying to make it objectified, and by considering each and every one's valid opinion, I honestly believe that I completely forgot what I was going to say."

I rank
1. 2 Cut down ruffs and win the postmortem, Nothing adventurous in case opponents are just overbidding.
2. 2 In case the kids think it's a Swizz match (Benito Garozzo would approve). See previous thread where dummy has e,g,
x x x A x x x A K T x x x -
3. 2 Dangerous.
4. 2 Dittto.

Assuming 2H was a weak 2, S for me too. Declarer is unlikely to hold a tenace in that suit, but maybe dummy so put at a guess at trick 1.

Maybe partner has Q and a trick somewhere.

Maybe partner has the A and we cash the first 2 tricks (just had the case last week-end against very strong opponents and a sequence almost as expeditive as this one).

Maybe (!) we need to set up tricks and it is the most promising suit I can see without asking my partner what he has in hand.

I led a spade and I think its automatic. Teammate thought "there isn't a 'right' lead here". Spade was disastrous:

They were. They did. And it worked against me too.

Unless you are a result-merchant, a lead is arguably best and certainly better than any other plain-suit lead..

I said I'd lead a , But when I averred that, I was thinking that with a fairly high spot, I'd consider long and hard about leading it rather than low from three. You know LHO opponent has the big hand, so the A is more likely to be in that hand. So the high spot might be more likely to make declarer believe partner has the K and disdain any working finesse.
