A couple of years ago I changed the forum settings so that posters can edit their own posts. Sometimes when a poster realizes they posted a duplicate, they'll edit the copy to just something like "duplicate, please delete". Or if they change their mind about posting, they'll edit to just "delete". Then one of the mods has to notice these messages and delete it.
I've finally decided that this extra step is silly. Since we can't see the previous content of the post, there's little being gained by delaying the deletion until a mod notices it. So I've enabled self-deletion of posts for all user groups that have permission to edit their posts.
