My new partner wants to learn to play bridge and I've always liked the 2 progs that Fred did - but they are Win prog. Anybody know if the Codeweavers Crossover emulation works for these progs?

BBO has learning software here. What's wrong with that(?) And it also offers live online tuition.

CrossOver can be used to run the Windows version of BBO, so it should also work for the LTPB program.
But ACBL has an online version as well: http://www.learn2playbridge.com/
