Check the description of the 4 bid and especially the number of hearts it promises for south. 4 down one when GIB is not able to count.

EDIT:
Something went wrong with the copy from the handviewer.
The bidding after 4 continued with North bidding 4 which went down one.
Keep in mind that BBO switches the players when GIB would be declarer. So North was GIB during bidding.

Correction of the Hand:

How do you insert screen shot? Can you insert one from your hard drive or do you have to have and HRL?

These incorrect bid descriptions are a serious problem, but I don't see much hope of anything be done about them. Maybe the programmers have given up.

You can find a good description of how to insert a hand here. It is not a screenshot.

I would be happy if only the description were wrong, but I fear the GIB forgot that I opened 1 promising 5+ and is acting accordingly.

GIB NEVER (=20,000 hand for me) opens a 4-card major. I think when you post a hand using hv= etc. there is a problem. Better to look at hand records.
How exactly were you affected? 4S instead of 4H?

Also, GIBBO has this habit of bidding 1nt without showing the spades. it tends to 1H-1nt!-2h- then 3 or 4 hearts.

it looks like it is programmed for a fit. In this case there is an immediate heart fit so it bids forcing NT without showing spades.

GIB is definitely buggy with respect to a game try in hearts. See http://www.bridgebas...asses-game-try/ for another example (can still replicate that bug).

Am still confused. The picture showed bidding finished at 4H. Who bid 4S? must be scarletV. Bidding shows GIB bid 4H and pass-pass-pass.

I read a book ages ago which said when there are 2 fits game in the weaker one i.e. fewer honors to avoid running into ruffs. I think it was a Terence Reese book.

How is anybody supposed to guess that when the auction shows shows 4 followed by 3 passes?

Don`t ask me why the hand is copied wrong from bbo handviewer. I did not change anything manually from the link. But what you still can see and which is the root of the problem is that GIB forgets the opening bid and suddenly starts to think there are only 4- cards in . At the time the board was bid north was a GIB. Later the players were switched by BBO that I had to play the contract.

I will copy the board again as soon as I have it shown in My hands.

Hi scarlet
in my experience of 20K+ hands I have never seen GIB bid 1S in such a case. Maybe I did not run into a situation where GIB was 4333 and I opened 1H. Maybe it was leaving an option open to play 3NT if the next bid was 2D. After it got the spade support it is never going to play hearts. Unfortunate you ran into heart ruff is all I can say. There might be something incredibly stupid that the software assumes since you would bid 2H to show 6+ while having 4+ spade support. A simulation engine will wait for more info to make a better decision (and in many cases) screw you.
