"definitely that's what I like to play when I'm playing standard - I want to be able to bid diamonds because bidding good suits is important in bridge" - Meckstroth's opinion on weak 2 diamond

my partner does NOT have a stiff spade for the 1nt bid.
Red at imps, 3nt wins opposite AAK, a hook somewhere, a favorable lead or endplay and of course, a spade split. Right on position, 9 tricks needed instead of 10 and if we go down in flames, at least I didn't have to play it.

Depends on the system (I could tell you about Acol 4cM) but if an immediate 2♠ shows less than an invite, then I can bid 2♠ now.
3nt does not really describe your hand.

Assuming 1NT is 12-14 bal and won't have a singleton spade, I'd bid whatever shows an invite with 6 spades. It's gotta be worth a try vul at imps - you're with the odds opposite AK AQ, for example.
