It wouldn't allow me to bid 2 which is what I would actually bid, 1 actually shows spades for me, cheapest minor could be invented. Most people will I think bid 1.

I gave serious consideration to 2 at the table, but 2 didn't occur to me sorry.

Ten 4th is a stopper right?

at the table I'd try 1NT and then I'd redouble for rescue if they x.

At imps I think I bid 1 spade.

1s

I have a rotten hand and there is ZERO reason to consider any other bid. This especially true when thoughts of 2c or 2d RAISE THE LEVEL for essentially zero reason. Bidding 1n all too easily can land you in 3n where a xx (to run) is unlikely to help any.

Not all TOX will work but at least try to avoid unnecessary damage when you have a poor hand.

I was going to say, if the field was getting +140, I'd be calling the director to see if the board was fouled.

I'd bid 1 . There's not enough for a 1 NT call and something has to be bid. 1 keeps it as low as possible and leaves you in position to pass partner's minor rebid should one be bid.
