I wouldn't at IMPs, I think it's closer at MPs. If we have game on partner will bid. Also if I pass in tempo, there is less need for W to barrage if he's thinking about it.

My partner probably would, and I'd moan at him afterwards for it :) We have an extremely low ODR, seems clear to pass.

Clear pass.

We have no game and if lho is short in hearts our downside is either large enough in 2 or when partner bids/raises.

My passed hand partner is very good at balancing when appropriate.

Pass. I agree with ggwhiz. While you want to compete for part scores at IMPs, you have to temper it with the potential for a number when vulnerable. There are too many losers and honor cards that are only possible slow winners to bid. If you bid, you are dependent on partner having cards to fill in the holes to make anything -- never a good position to be in.

OTOH, if partner finds a way to reopen, you'll be well placed to make a bid.

If RHO opponent had passed, would you open this hand? I'd pass with no problem and expect at worst to find no more than a small swing either way. So I see no reason to compete now.

I would usually pass.

But I've played with partners with the bravery of a dead rabbit, and I've also played with partners who don't understand the difference between actions in direct seat and actions in balancing seat. In those cases, I bid, even at IMPs.

I wouldn't bid at imps. I wouldn't bid at pairs. I would only bid if opponents promise not to double and partner promise not to take my bid seriously.
Now if the vulnerability were reversed I might be willing to bid.

I dont see this as a matter of "enough" as much as a matter of need and reason. Partner as a passed hand will balance enough where bidding 2S myself is not needed when it would be nice.
"Gibberish in, gibberish out. A trial judge, three sets of lawyers, and now three appellate judges cannot agree on what this law means. And we ask police officers, prosecutors, defense lawyers, and citizens to enforce or abide by it? The legislature continues to write unreadable statutes. Gibberish should not be enforced as law."

I don't find it hard to construct hands for partner opposite which we would want to be in game, but I suppose that with most of them partner, having already passed, will re-open with a double.
