Club bridge - match points. Most people play strong club in the event with a catchall 1D.

The danger here is that W has a singleton diamond and 3 trumps (there's nothing we can do if E has AQ double).
We can possibly do something about it if E has stiff A or Q. If E has stiff A and W gets the right switch he can take 2 ruffs, so we can concentrate on stiff Q.
So in theory we put K♠ on the table.
Of course in practice, the defence have to get it right and E may have to guess which of his aces is standing up to signal if he's 1444 and may get it wrong if 2443 with ♠AQ.

What about other 2-2 trump breaks. K beats ♠Qx with West which is slightly more likely than ♠Ax.
So I vote for ♠K as well.

this is a standard play and fairly automatic - the nearly 100% play is spade king daffydoc

Stiff Ace with RHO is not going to help. But leading the king may help if LHO has Qx doubleton.

Well I can agree that if you are going to play in spades - the right card to play is the King of spades - but this board has a small twist - is it 100% right that the playing spades here is the right choice?

playing a heart gives up your chances of a wrong switch, and I wasn't convinced it gained anything
