You're playing Polish Club, if you somehow think that matters.

I don't know if PC matters, is 2 GF ? We would play X as exactly 4 hearts here and that's what I'd bid.

Well, we agreed after the hand to play it as GF, but it wasn't clear at the time. WJ05 stipulates the archaic "GF unless 3 rebid" style. Does it really matter, though?

I will try 4d rather than double.

I hope this shows excellent d...short spades and some h cards. I am willing to lose the 4-4 fit to show I don't like 3nt but I have xtras and very long d.

Looking for slam here and I hope bidding 4d rather than x makes that easier.

With a minimum I would pass, with good club support I would bid 4c.

I doubt we'll be left in 4, and if we're bidding higher, I'd rather play in diamonds than a 4-4 fit, so if I have a forcing 4 I'll just bid that.

This is an issue if partner has say QJx, AQxx, x, Axxxx where you have 12 tricks in diamonds, 13 in hearts, I'd rather suggest hearts as I can also find the Q which I can't do with diamonds agreed.

too simple for me. i'd play 4d as nf if 2c isn't GF, which op says it's not. i'd bid 4s and 5d over 5c.

if 2c was gf I would bid 4h and would do so even if we use a neg x to show 4 hearts since there is little to no desire to have p convert such an x to penalty. Even if p thought we had 5 hearts surely we would have 7/8 diamonds to open 1d so our 4h bid gives a VERY close approximation to our actual hand.

if 2c was not gf much tougher since p might be bidding 2c with all manner of significantly weaker hands. I would have a tendency to just pretend I had 3 little clubs and bid 4s and not worry much about the heart suit. If p wishes to sign off in 5c we can convert to 5d. The problem with a 4h bid is that p may feel stuck if they have one of those weaker 2c bids and they might pass from fear (something a nice robust opening hand will not do).

The key in both case is that we are showing a hand with lots of offensive potential and little to no interest in 3n or 3s x (which should indicate pretty short spades).
