What's the best chance to make this boring 3NT?

IMPs, JEC match, strong opps:

Lead is J

First thoughts:
Duck J, win continuation with DK,
Low to 8.

If are 4-3, we can play for club double finesse. If 5-2, we make it if are either 3-3 or East holds Ace {with/without long heart}.

The Q or J with East so taking double finesse in clubs (74% or so chance) seems like the best line. You might can combine with checking for 3-3 hearts. I certainly would not play East for the A....

I would duck trick 1, then win trick 2 with the Ace (not King), then run 4 Spades discarding Diamond (if you win trick 2 with King then you do not have an easy pitch on the 4th Spade, but winning the Ace is only important if adopting this line).

That puts off the decisions while you can pay attention to their pitches on the Spades. To be frank I suspect that against this competition it is not going to elicit much of use, and when they get in you are still going to have to find a pitch on the third Diamond. So unless any hearts get discarded you are probably committed to a couple of deep club finesses.
Psych (pron. saik): A gross and deliberate misstatement of honour strength and/or suit length. Expressly permitted under Law 73E but forbidden contrary to that law by Acol club tourneys.

Psyche (pron. sahy-kee): The human soul, spirit or mind (derived, personification thereof, beloved of Eros, Greek myth).
Masterminding (pron. mPosted ImagesPosted ImagetPosted Imager-mPosted ImagendPosted Imageing) tr. v. - Any bid made by bridge player with which partner disagrees.

"I will be with you, whatever". Blair to Bush, precursor to invasion of Iraq

TWO lop depending on what happens at trick 1
1. small from dummy and rho plays small win the A
2. small spade to K
3. small club intending to play the club T (assuming it loses to the J or Q)
4. duck 2nd dia (they are almost surely splitting 34)
5. win 3rd dia (verifying 43 split).
we now can lead another club toward the 9 and have our 75% shot at a club trick

1 small from dummy and rho inserts the Q (strong chance of Qx unblocking) duck
2. win 2nd dia in dummy and now go for 33 hearts (ducking a heart all around) and if that fails try playing rho for club A

I like 1eyedkack's line: Duck the lead. Win continuation with A. Cash AJKQ (Assume RHO discards a , you discard a and LHO discards a ). Finesse T to LHO's quack. Win continuation.
  • If RHO follows to the 3rd , then take another deep finesse.
  • If LHO started with 5+ s, then lead a to K.
