Hi there!
You know, I sometimes play online against/with robots. They usually defend pretty good. Here the lead is perfect against a slam in - 4. J from board follows and from W... 8 !?!?
Are the robots sleepy in the morning :D

Reason for edit: removed duplicate diagram

A mind is like a parachute. It doesn't work if it's not open.

Basic or advanced robots? If you see silly plays from basic robots, you're getting what you pay for.

It seems like basic robot make your play disaster.

And I have just posted about simple error my GIB partner made in defence. I did not pay. It was free. So it is normal? Unpaid GIB plays badly.

So the conclusion is - if your partner is GIB and you did not pay - go away. Something silly - seems like "go away from BBO". Help me - is there any other free bridge game supplier?

I have said before and will say again - BBO should retire the basic robots. They are an embarrassment to the brand.

You did not answer the question you were asked. "Free" is not the same as "basic". There are times when you pay and are using basic (for example, in the MBC when you rent robots for $1/week), and there are times when you get advanced robots for free (in certain tournaments). So... was this in a tournament (in which case it was advanced GIB, regardless of whether you paid) or was it in "Just Play Bridge" (in which case it's a basic robot).

It seems clear that West did not play 8 on Trick 1. Are you sure the rest of the details are right?

Barmar is a bbo admin, I guess he should be free to play any Gib,of course.

I was not asked any question. I asked why robots are used when they play anti-bridge?

I hope "free" is not "basic" but it is awful.

And if you know what kind of robot play "bad" or "good" in that various circumstances you should know what kind of robot was playing better than me.

Sorry... my bad... I was confusing the two threads on GIB defense; one where you were the OP and one where you're not. I did not notice that you were reviving a thread that had been dormant for 20 days.

To determine what type of robot it was, we need to know what type of event this was: tournament (advanced), "Just Play Bridge" (basic), MBC (could be either). We need OP to tell us this.
