At least it should be super excited after your 3S bid but I face that problem a lot even without competition- it will not value its hand more highly when it contains 2 aces and singleton or void in your case- after all it could often equally have AQ spades, KQ hearts and singleton club which is a lot worse for slam bidding- another great use of its 8421 points bidding tool + distribution that is chronically underutilised.

heh, I was confused also, I thought the "delayed raise" refered to South bidding and it was the North robot that should have gotten active, but then I realised that South is a human and North's 3♥ bid is obvious.

But yes, I agree that 4♣ is a "retarded bid" in gwnn terminology.

The book bid is 4♣ over 3♦. But it does a simulation and decides that passing may work better. In most of its simulated hands it doesn't make a difference, the opponents end up in the same contract either way. But in some, NS land in 4♥ with an inferior 4-3 heart fit when it passes, but bidding 4♣ helps them avoid that. About 70% of my simulations choose Pass.

But once NS have announced a real spade fit, it needs to show its good support.
