you don't have to approve of the bidding. partner's double of a spade showed 4 spades.

Prospects seem bleak. I rank the leads:
1. K. Heart losers might disappear.
2. 9. The auction threatens a cross-ruff.
3. 3. LHO might be psychic.
4. 2. Partner might be ruffing.

How good is W? His actions look equally consistent with walking the dog, having spades, not having spades, and being insane.

Also P's double looks odd from a hand that couldn't open the bidding opposite what looks like a possible double fit - could he be asking for a C lead to ruff? If so I suppose I lead the 3, having no strong preference for which major he returns (or rather, wanting him to decide based on which ace he holds/the sight of dummy).

Elsif he might just double on values in the right places (esp if MPs), I don't see any reason not to lead a if I think W seems honest and competent. They seem to have at least 10 trumps, so I can't see us cutting down any ruffs, so let's set up the suit we're most likely to have a trick or two in.

Elsif W seems the sly sort then maybe I lead a S.

Else if E/W are LOLs or otherwise insane, I lead a trump to cut down their ruffs.

In all cases except the last I feel pessimistic about our prospects.

I think the title of the post is meant to explain why partner may have doubled.
