At matchpoints the answer is easy. I attempt to cash the A of diamonds. Otherwise, declare may draw trump and discard diamonds on the long heart suit to make the overtrick. Will try a low heart at imps, may work on declarer's communications.

No doubt in this case it is probably the only lead that let's the contract make, otherwise it wouldn't be a problem.

Gamble on a heart ruff. Lead 9♥so partner ruffs and returns a diamond.

It appears the opps are missing a key card (and we are staring at it) and they did not bother to ask for the trump Q when they easily could have so that means they probably do not care we also have the trump Q. Rho undoubtedly holds a dia control but that should be irrelevant to our thinking since the heart suit should provide plenty of parking spaces for losers.

Seems clear to lead the diamond A to me. So likely when you have 5 low hearts that declarers losers are about to go away on the AKQJT of hearts.
Partner didnt double 5c and partner didnt make a lightner double, so leading a heart or a club would be a bit superflous if you trust your partner, so diamond A it is.

I am not certain I should trust my partner. Perhaps with his heart void he has figured the hearts will run(the finesse would have been onside if necessary)and wonder if a double would only drive the opponents to a making 6NT. Perhaps I should signal high on the heart lead. I don't want to make the position obvious if declarer still has a losing play when there isn't a heart ruff. Since opener has 3 rather than 0 key cards, and the key card held by responder is usually in his long trump suit; I expect 95% of the time it will be obvious to partner which non-trump A I might have.

What are you talking seems to me like "a greek chorus" that "singing" represented what will be happened in futures scenarios (of rappresented tragedy). If a problem had to be we could consider all data that are in post #1 becoming from author of topic KurtGodel untill ...humans. Such as what means GIB (which seems to think 4♠ here shows 3 card support) ?

After the hand I realised that I should have led A♦, but I just wanted to know how clear it was. As it happened we had a trump trick (p had JTx of trumps), which is why I mention GIB's strange beliefs. Leading the ace of diamonds takes it 2 off, as you can now switch to a club through dummy's tenace.
