Scoring: IMP

West opens 1, pass from partner, 2 by East, and ??

To bid or not to bid. Is it time to get in, or is it better to stay out of this? If you bid, what is your choice?

2. If opener passes partner may have a tough balance.
A bit of blatant self-pimping - I've got a new poker book that's getting good reviews.

i'd double lol... the reason is, my K is probably useless and i don't necessarily want a spade lead vs. 3.. so my plan is to double then pass (unless partner jumps or something)

2s OBAR Of course could go for huge number here at IMPs

The nice think of 2s over x is it puts the strong hand on lead. Putting the strong hand on lead often makes the whole difference on a hand.

Yet again, loyal opposition.

My spade suit isn't quite suitable for 2. EW have limited their hand and found their fit making it easy for them to double for penalty here if it is right for them to do so. The king of hearts is a soft value.

I know all about OBAR and at matchpoints, i would use this knowledge to bid 2. But this imps, and we are vul. I am afraid I would pass here. So I pass. if it goes 2H-p-p partner will have a tough balance, but so be it.

passing is conceding 6 imps. Close between X and 2S, i like 2S though.

At MPs or white at IMPs, 2S is automatic.

Red at IMPs, it's still 2S, but visions of -500 dance in my head.

Tough. I'm torn between Pass, X and 2S. I really would prefer a third H, but I'll try 2S with no great enthusiasm.

favorable colors: 2S
at equal colors: depending on opps' quality and feeling
at unfav colors: pass, happily.

2S for me. Doubling 2S is probably tough for them at IMPs, but playing 2H is always easy. I'd rather give the opponents a hard time!
Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.

I care about the friends I have made on BBO. Also, I am extremely concerned about the environment/ ecology/ wildlife/ the little planet that we call Earth. How much more of the world's habitat and food supply for animals do we plan on destroying. How many more wetlands are we going to drain, fill, and build on? How many more sand dunes are we going to knock down in the interests of high-rise hotels or luxury homes?

To bid or not to bid. That is the question?

I would risk bidding 2 shovels (automatically makes it wrong! don't exactly like my 5332 shape with 7 losers)

Eternal question ... :)

If they have a fit, I have more chances to have one too !

Let's go for 2 and see what will happen !

Imo there are only 3 sensible bids: 2, pass and Dbl. Problem with Dbl is that partner may have a 3-3 in the Majors, and won't bid 2. Why challenge your partner? So there's only pass or 2 left. I'm a bidder, but this hand is dangerous. Nevertheless, I'll bid 2 since I suppose the other table will do the same :)

Hum... 2S is so obvious to me that I would venture to say the only reason this is presented as a problem is it got axed at table :)

I bid 2S.

If we buy the contract, I prefer to be the one receiving the openign lead, in view of 3 unsupported Ks and AJ of diamonds.
If I double, this won't happen.
