This morning I had an hour-long chat with jlall:

https://www.youtube....h?v=tUG9vfHN3so

We talked about sponsors, defensive signals, stupid mistakes, etc. We didn't get to the important questions about women, drinking, or gambling. There will always be another time I guess.

Thanks for your time again and good luck in the trials!

edit: I really had an interview! not Dexter's Laboratory!

thank you very much for interview

tiny complaints.

1) As an older guy make it louder much louder, much
2) I expect smoking will complain from much younger set.

Big point, huge point is thank you thank you to both of you~!

You guys would really be disappointed to see the smoking area of major bridge tournaments if you hate smokers. Someone once said to me "I guess I have to smoke cigarettes to be a good bridge player!" I asked why and they said look around, there is Levin, Weinstein, Meckstroth, Helness, Grue, Balicki, etc etc etc right now lol.

Anyways yeah its a bad habit and I don't recommend it but surprised anyone cares (I have gotten multiple messages about it on BBO, yes I know it causes cancer and kills people).

I quit smoking in 1968 - well, with the exception of one time in 1972, but the choking and hacking then really cemented it for me. For years after that, being around smokers didn't bother me, but sometime in the late '80s I lost that tolerance. As for the killing people bit, in one sense I figure if somebody wants to kill himself that way, that's his problem. OTOH, "second hand smoke" is a real problem. So if someone wants to kill himself by smoking, that's his problem, so long as his smoking doesn't harm anyone else. IOW, he better not do it where anyone else is around, or where his smoke might be trapped to affect someone who shows up later.

And there is a top world class Italian player who is famous for mooching cigs from others, I think you know who. He probably smokes more than anyone else, yet he never carries a pack.Posted Image

Enjoyed the interview. Ditto for the USBF trials so far and looking forward to seeing a good match between the Diamond and Fireman teams over the weekend.

Haha, it comes with the territory if you do something like put a video up on the interwebz. Maybe in the part 2 I will do a line every 15 minutes :P

Drop acid, then the vibe of the interview will definitely be different at the end than at the start.
