I think that hand 1 is the first time that I have seen GIB open 1N with 5422 shape. Refreshing.

I too but probably will indicate points. The 5-4-2-2 is the half-balanced and is yet a better hand to play NT. The last is the 6-3-3-1 but must choise in last analisys can having problem about communications.
About the hand 2 let's say that its value is around 10 points cause Q or K gain value is covered by partner (or the same for the last diamond actually without points of longness).

Making because both those 1NT openings are over-strength- is GIB having an expectation of overstrength by a GIB opening of 1NT. I'd open the first and rebid 2NT, open the second 1C and rebid 2NT.

I can sort of understand the argument that hand 1 is over-strength for 1N opener. I would regard it as max but not over-strength, but even if over-strength it would not deter me from making a 2H response to Stayman. I cannot see any argument for suggesting that the second hand is over-strength.
