Is it unreasonable to ask that North at some point disclose its 5-card support for my ♣ suit? Hidden 5-card support not only causes us to miss the best contract (4♣ making) and 2nd best contract (5♣-1) but also makes it difficult to defend correctly.

Surely you should make 5♣? Agree GIB's lack of club support is ludicrous.
