I have always played that you just don't redouble with stiff A, so redouble shows a void. I have never seen the problem in that when you've already shown shortness.

Doesn't lack of redouble announce a sure loser in the suit?, so if partner has a sure loser in another suit how are you going to play slam?

Apparently it doesn't announce that, because he doesn't redouble with the stiff Ace. Neither do we.

I confess I gave up on the entire thread, for being unable to decipher the auction. Could we please not do the "one bid in parentheses" thing, as in, never for the rest of our lives?
