Look at another similar hand,Gib overcall only with 4-card major at two level,but I think pass is better than overcall at two level in this hand.

What would a double by East (instead of 2) show? Or 1 instead of 1N?

Currently

1 over 1 would be 5+ cards.

Double over 2 later shows just some length, like suggestion for penalty and not related with spades at all. Book bid is Double btw, not 2


2 here looks like some balancing overcall based on their minor hands.

1 here should deny 4 spades over / values as GIB would double otherwise with any 44/45 shape.

It would be reviewed here for improvement as once East knows West is 5+ 3- major cards will not compete that bravely.
