Defend at the 1 level? Matchpoints

Gib passes very often in this spot. I wonder if there is something wrong with the simulation assumptions. Other than that it assumes dd defence. Humans probably pass less often than they should.
The world would be such a happy place, if only everyone played Acol :) --- TramTicket

All NV, probably 2S is right. Maybe if opps were vul you could punt for the magic 200 with a pass.

I don't expect partner to pass 1S if we are making 4S.
If partner has a skew double, ie shape for 2m but too strong, then I don't really want to encourage by bidding 2S. If all he wants is a Heart guard for 3N then we will still get there I think.

Psych (pron. saik): A gross and deliberate misstatement of honour strength and/or suit length. Expressly permitted under Law 73E but forbidden contrary to that law by Acol club tourneys.
Psyche (pron. sahy-kee): The human soul, spirit or mind (derived, personification thereof, beloved of Eros, Greek myth).
Masterminding (pron. mstr-mnding) tr. v. - Any bid made by bridge player with which partner disagrees.
"Gentlemen, when the barrage lifts." 9th battalion, King's own Yorkshire light infantry,
2000 years earlier: "morituri te salutant"
"I will be with you, whatever". Blair to Bush, precursor to invasion of Iraq

Were you void in ♥s?
Defense should not be horrible with a ♥ lead. Especially if x'er holds the 9 or better.

I was partner of opener; doubler was void in hearts. 1♥ went down 1 for a whole -100 for my side, whereas EW could take 11 tricks in spades. Funny thing was that the only tables where they got to 4♠ were when the human had cleverly sat himself North instead of South, and he couldn't take the heat and ran from 1♥x with 2515 and 16HCP.

never sit for a double when you have an undisclosed fit, even as in this case its only an inferred fit.
