Borderline hand for north; I tend to treat these as semi-positives in IMPrecision because it limits the hand (and it tends to be easy to make sure we reach game).

1 (16+) - 1 (balanced or diamonds)
2 (min, spades and a minor) - 4

Silent Club:

P-1
2-2 diamonds 1 suited; weak relay
3-4 3352 GF (~8-11); end relay
4-4 forced; signoff

Remember north is a passed hand, no need to investigate too much.

1 - 2 [16+; 8+ with 5+]
2 - 3 [5+; 3+support]
4 - 5 [1st/2nd round controls in , , and ; 1st/2nd round control in not ]
6

West leads a , and I end play him with the K after eliminating the minors, East having pitched a .

IRL I will probably subside in 5 (I'm a vegetarian).

We need to play SAB but how do you find a 4-4 side fit?

The first SAB is a 3-cd ask, if negative reply, then a second SAB is a 4-card ask. Asking again in the second suit (assuming negative reply) is a 3-cd ask - that's how Keylime and I play.

1NT = Forcing, asks
2 = 7-10

Pass 2000

North opens:

1-2 [8-11 balanced, no 5 card major; transfer to spades]

Dubbelklubba (our version of Swedish Club)

South opens:
1-2 [11--13 balanced or 17+; 8+ (so about 8-10) hcp with 5+ diamonds]
2-3 [natural strong; support]

Two-way pass:

pass 1
1 2
2NT 3
3 4
4

pass, 1 = 0-8 or 15+
1, 2 = nat 15-20, nat 4-7
2NT = unspecified short suit trial
3 = waiting bid
3 = singleton
4 = ace across, and a max
4 = hands mesh, but that's probably not enough...

If opener is an optimistic bidder, this would end up in 6...

Pass-1 (meh ; 16+ any)
1NT-2 (8-10 bal ; transfer 5+)
2-3 (accepting trf like after a NT opening ; GF with 5 and doesn't want partner to play 3NT with fit)
4-pass (3+ ; ok)

We play our NT structure over 1-1NT. Definitely not the best idea, but it's easy on the mind and lets an unbalanced hand describe (if he wants to). Opener could also show his s (2NT) after which responder would bid 3 showing a fit. Now opener can show his shortage with a 5=3=1=4. But imo opener is too weak to start looking for slam unless responder can superaccept.

The South hand is close to the boundary for a strong club. With 7 controls upgrading seems to be the right decision though, and besides this auction is (slightly)more interesting than 1 - 2 etc, since it makes North declarer:

1 = 15-17 nat/bal or 18+ any
... - 1 = most non-GF hands
1 = 18-20 any or 23+ bal
... - 1 = most hands
2 = 5+ spades, 18-20
... - 4
(-: Zel :-)
