I would bid 3♣. A preemptive 4♣ is fine, but somewhat likely to push opps into a thin, but making, game.

A tactical pass is another possibility, along with some "joke" like 2NT or 2♠ (lol).

3♣ and pass 3♥. 4♣ is suicide, they'd always go for +200 and double after stopping short of game and I don't see how it makes unless partner has something that we'd hear about over our 3♣.

3♣ then pass. At imps and even here in my partnership style partner has a pretty good hand to come in red like this with a crummy suit but going any higher is their job not mine.

3h. partner overcalled vul against not on a pony suit at the 2 level. it means he's got a good hand. our clubs will solidify his. pre-empting past 3nt would be laughable.

I really don't like to cue 3H. My partner knows his hand, I don't have to tell him about that. When he finds out about my club support he wil bid 3NT if that is were we belong.

If 2 NT shows a fit (which i play in this auction) and a hand too strong for simple raise and not good enough for cue, then i would bid it. If this is not available i would bid 3♣ but this is stronger than my usual simple raise i have to admit.

This hand is not too strong for a single raise. It is pretty much what a single raise should look like.

I think 3♣ is clear. Other choices are far behind.

EDIT: I have to admit I don't think much of partner's suit for his vulnerable overcall when I hold these clubs.

Yeh, it seems we could use one or the other of 2NT vs 3C to show the degree of our simple club raise ("mixed non-jump"?). When the other guys have bid and raised we give up 2NT as natural, anyway.

Another choice for 2NT might be too extreme in the other two suits for a Responsive Double.

If you go 4♣ over 3♥ chances are excellent you just got pushed and they're taking +200 or more. Partner hasn't much in clubs, but he rates to have some outside defense. Try to beat 3♥. And if you push them to a thin but making 4♥, woah nelly!
