Scoring: IMP

You RHO, East deals and opens 1, west responds 1NT as forcing,
East rebid 2, west make a preference to 2, passed to you.
What is your choice?

You're vulnerable, they are not. Do they have a fit? That's unknown. To get in the bidding with such hand is probably suicide, asking for a -500.
I'll pass.

Turn the vulnerability around, then I might Dbl when it feels ok.

Note: tnx for the 'other'-option :D

With a well known partner i play that after 1 something - 1NT our weak 2 suiter are still on (in 4rth seat) since only one suit is shown. So i would have bid the minors, first time it was my turn.
Now that two suits are shown and my partner will have a hard time to guess about my . So i keep my mouth shut.

I care about the friends I have made on BBO. Also, I am extremely concerned about the environment/ ecology/ wildlife/ the little planet that we call Earth. How much more of the world's habitat and food supply for animals do we plan on destroying. How many more wetlands are we going to drain, fill, and build on? How many more sand dunes are we going to knock down in the interests of high-rise hotels or luxury homes?

Pass..............probably even if opps playing constructive single raises (it would be helpful to have that information). Partner didn't take any action over 1NT, lho could be up to a 9 to bad 10 count with dbltn spade, and, if so, partner likely has at least 4 spades, more major than minor suit cards, and there is no guarantee of a fit for us. Where are we going?

I like to bid a lot, but vuln I think I pass. At matchpoints I could consider 2NT, depending on how the match was going and opps.

As East rebid 2C 2NT would show long D and 4H!

Double only if you expect partner to leave it in. Partner has at least 4 hearts, and probably 5. Especially as he has a fairly limited number of HCP, this will likely lead to you writing -470 down on your card.

Pass.

From the bidding I estimate LHO has 2 Spades. If he had more he would have raised pard, (he didnt bid a new suit). So pard has 5 or 4 spades.

RHO doesn't care for Clubs (he may have 0-3, and he may be ruffing them, so I'll lead a trump).

Thus RHO has long hearts and diamonds.

I have no guarantee of pard having length in Diamonds, and I'd have to bid them at the 3 level. Hearts may be a 4-3 fit at the 3 level. Its possible we have a fit in clubs, (and also possible we have a 4-2 or 4-3 fit) , but I see no sense in risking it vulnerable at the 3 level. So no suit bid makes sense. Also, the opps dont have a game, so bidding to prevent them making 110, at the risk of -300 or -500 doesnt seem worth it.

Do we double? Opps have at least 18 HCP, and much more likely 20-22.
can we set them? Perhaps. We may set them a trick. doubled gives us an extra 50 points.

If we fail, they make a game bonus. So we better set them 90% of the time, or set them 2 tricks the majority of the time. Can we do that?
I dont think so.

Pass.
