Recent IMPs deal.
Pick the bones out of this disaster where slam has better chances than 3NT.
2NT by South would have been natural.

South has an absolute minimum and slam has decent play. North has a completely different hand from the one the bidding showed. Why is this even a question?

*** Q-bid with one control? And that didn't light a "grand" fire??
2Nt with this bal, quacks, stops hand.
Then 3D by North at least finds a good C-fit to land in slam try.

*** When would South show his C:Qxxx support??
Of course 3Nt after his stre-e-etch Q-bid last round.
Still North is worth his own 4D Q-bid, esp if 4Nt is a landing spot (not keys ask).

This one is pretty clear, south took the time to offer a raise before bidding 2 or 3NT to offer alternatives instead of bidding directly, north was asleep.

I disagree.

North's pass of 3NT could have been right though I don't really like it. But South's 3NT instead of 4 was the worst call and rates to be a silly contract most of the time, and merely an inferior one otherwise.

North should just bid 4D (for me its 100% exclusion), south hand doesnt look that good for slam but with only 2 pts wasted it think it deserve to make another forward move and north will auto accept.

At MP i have some sympathy for passing 3NT but at imps its a joke.
From Psych "I mean, Gus and I never see eye-to-eye on work stuff.
For instance, he doesn't like being used as a human shield when we're being shot at.
I happen to think it's a very noble way to meet one's maker, especially for a guy like him.
Bottom line is we never let that difference of opinion interfere with anything."

This was Norths view.
Couldn't 5C be silly though if North has a singleton diamond. There a 9 possible singletons and half of them improve 3NT.
Could North be Jxx AKx x AKxxxx on the bidding ?

I would have bid 1nt with the South hand... But that is besides the point: North should never pass 3nt.
