I'm wondering if the UI can be improved to cut down the number of misdirected chats. E.g. You are chatting to table, click on a kibber's profile to see who they are, and then your next table-chat goes to them instead of the table.
How about if the group chats showed a symbol on the chat-button and on the recipient-identifier (to the left of the chat entry)?
E.g.
Table icon = table chat
Trophy icon = tournament chat
Padlock = private chat
Etc for kibbers, lobby
All the best,Alan

This is a problem I frequently face when using the web version, a solution to this would be much appreciated.

the target of the chat is named to the left of the area in which you enter the chat.
I understand that the target changes when you click on a profile. Maybe it shouldn't. Not sure.

I would prefer it to not change, as I will often look at someone's profile without meaning to send them a message, and then accidentally send them a message.

+1 to Fujiko, that sounds like a good solution.
Yes, or worse, you intend to send them a private chat, which you do while the popup is there. Then you send the chat to the table.
This is a real UX issue. Countless times per day, chat is misdirected.
That said, I do not have a solution. Perhaps there simply needs to be different windows for each potential recipient or group of recipients. I have multiple chats open at my job, and invariably somebody will "chat" to a group, when the chat entered was a regular command intended for another open window on his screen.

It's not really a solution, but if you want to view someone's profile without selecting them to chat, right-click on them and choose Show Profile instead of left-clicking.

Yes, that's what I do. And I like to switch conversations by clicking on the name. But if the group chat targets where highlighted by a graphic symbol that would help cut down the number of misdirects (in my case.)
