Nobody vul, IMPs

1-(pass) - 2 - ( 2 )
pass-(3)-double-(pass)
??

1 = 11-15, 11-13 if balaned, 2+ cards. 2 natural forcing 1 round.

I think you're right that you should have shown fit the round before. Now I think you have to pass and hope for the best.

Could we not have done something other than passing or showing fit the previous round, namely doubling? Or does that promise more than this for you strong NTers?

What does double show, and would pass have been forcing? Or maybe that's part of the question.

Facing an undiscussed or "values" double, I'd take it out. If partner had the sort of hand where defending is right, he might have bid 3NT instead.

The other decision is what to take it out to. I'd bid 4, because if we have a fit there someone has to bid it. Presumably partner knows I'm balanced, so if he doesn't have four hearts he'll convert to 5 rather than 5.

Regarding the earlier bidding, you ought to play 2NT as a club raise, so that you can distinguish this type of hand from a better one. I prefer the distinction to be between balanced and unbalanced raises, but it also makes sense to distinguish strength or the number of cards in the suit.
... that would still not be conclusive proof, before someone wants to explain that to me as well as if I was a 5 year-old. - gwnn

Thanks for the answers.

pass = + 500
4m= +130
4 or higher = -50 in 5m
3NT = -100

Partner had

A10
xx
Axxx
Kxxxx

I got -50 after trying 4.
