Me and P had a good result but a slight mix up on the bidding on this one:

xx was alerted as 5 card suit asking p to bid 2 clubs (pass or correct)

my question is what is the function of the 2 Heart bid here? My p and I obviously had a different idea of what it meant. I thought it showed a hand with decent offense but little defense basically saying i'd prefer to play rather than defend... but my p thought it just showed a weak hand?

Is this just a matter of partnership agreement or is there a clear answer :)

Cheers

you're right. your partner is off the hook as the opps need to bid, so he should pass and await developments.

I think it is a matter of agreement and having it show a weak hand unwilling to sit a double is very common. If you do it this way then you pass first and bid something the next time around with a decent offensive hand.
