MP, robot tourney, best hand South

OK so I could have recovered about 25% by playing the hand better. Gloss over that.
Apparently there were two winning actions: Double the 3D bid, or pull 4C to 4D. Either gets you into 5D.
Personally I am not keen on doubling 3D on a suit as poor as Kxxxx having already opened the suit (yes I know it could be on 3 carder, but even so).
I did have a vision of North having a 6th Club when he came back in with a 4C freebid in non-protective seat, just not strong enough for an immediate 3C over 2S.
The mouse-over says that it only promises 4+ Clubs, but I thought that so absurd that I assumed that it was just a mistake in the description. I have encountered inconsistent explanations with the cards held before.

So, do you agree with North's bidding? Would you have doubled 3D?

North's 4 bid is from another planet, masking f4 card support. 100% blame to north.

was the 4 bid explained as nonforcing? if it's forcing (while 4 would ne NF) then it is a good bid.

But I agree that it should be NF.
The world would be such a happy place, if only everyone played Acol :) --- TramTicket

I just checked back. 4C is described as

"4+ C; 4+ H; 13+ total points"

So, not expressly stated, but by implication from the description, there being no upper limit on the defined strength, It would appear to be forcing. Whether you agree that that is sensible or not is another matter.

Doubling the cuebid of opening suit shows only length in diamonds at the moment for GIB.

So if 3 was doubled GIB would be able to force with 4 showing 4+ 3+. Bidding 4 now would deny a fit.

Bidding 4 over 3 shows 5+ and 4+. It's 5 because partner has not yet promised more then 3.
