Couple of observations, really.
It seems that GIB subscribes to the view that a hand can be too good for a weak 2 but too bad for a 1M opener. I have often wondered about that, and most expert players that I encounter take the opposite view: that a borderline hand must fit within one or other category. Possibly the possession of 4 cards in the other major might have a bearing, but that does not apply here. That said, I would have opened East 1H and not consider it borderline.
If pass followed by 2H is the systemic GIB way of bidding East's hand, what on earth is West doing pulling it to 2S?
